Are you experienced in supporting vulnerable young people? Do you want to help them build confidence, develop independence and prepare for adulthood?

Social Care & Education is recruiting a compassionate and reliable Support Worker for a transitional home in Redcar, supporting young people aged 16–18.

About the role

You will provide practical and emotional support, helping young people feel safe, valued and supported as they work towards greater independence.

Your responsibilities will include:

Building positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
Supporting daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, budgeting and attending appointments.
Encouraging engagement in education, training, employment and community activities.
Providing reassurance and responding calmly to challenging situations.
Following individual support plans and reporting safeguarding concerns promptly.
Completing accurate daily records and clear handovers.
Working with colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent support.

What we are looking for:

Previous experience working with vulnerable young people is essential.
An understanding of the needs of young people aged 16–18.
Experience in supported accommodation, transitional services or children’s residential settings is desirable.
A caring, patient and non-judgemental approach.
Strong communication skills and an understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
The ability to encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and support.
