De-escalation Trained Children's Support Worker - Nottingham

? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people?

We are currently looking for caring, enthusiastic and experienced Children's Support Workers to join our team and work within residential children's services.

If you have experience supporting children and young people, particularly those with complex needs or behaviours that challenge, and hold a relevant physical intervention qualification, we'd love to hear from you.

Essential Training Requirement

To be considered for this role, you must hold at least one of the following:

  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention
  • PRICE Training
  • PMVA – Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression

Your training must be appropriate/current for working with children and young people.

The Role

As a Children's Support Worker, you will provide safe, consistent and person-centred support to children and young people within a residential environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing day-to-day care and emotional support.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Supporting children with their daily routines and individual needs.
  • Working with children who may display behaviours that challenge.
  • Using appropriate de-escalation and positive behaviour support techniques.
  • Following individual care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.
  • Supporting children to participate in activities, education and community outings.
  • Encouraging confidence, self-esteem and positive relationships.
  • Supporting children with personal care where required.
  • Promoting independence and age-appropriate life skills.
  • Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
  • Completing accurate records, reports and handovers.
  • Working effectively with colleagues and other professionals.
  • Providing consistent support in line with the child's individual needs.

? Who we're looking for

We are looking for people who are friendly, approachable, patient and confident when working with children.

Previous experience within a residential children's setting is highly desirable, particularly experience supporting children or young people with:

  • Behaviours that challenge
  • Autism
  • Learning disabilities
  • ADHD
  • Emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Complex needs
  • Mental health needs
  • Trauma-related behaviours

You should be confident in managing challenging situations while maintaining a calm, professional and child-centred approach.

As a Children's Support Worker, you will have an important responsibility for ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children in your care.

You will be expected to:

  • Follow safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Report concerns promptly.
  • Follow care plans and risk assessments.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Promote dignity, choice and respect.
  • Work in accordance with the child's individual needs and support strategies.
